HOW IT ALL BEGAN
"Will this work on cars?"
It started with a simple question. In 2001, IGL Coatings’ founder was searching for better hydrophobic protection for the detailing industry. Dissatisfied with the products available at the time, he stopped looking outward and started looking inside his own lab.
Drawing from IGL’s experience in industrial coating formulations, he identified technologies with the performance and properties he was looking for. With support from industry leaders including BASF, Bayer, DuPont, Shin-Etsu, and Wacker Chemie, those early formulations were reimagined for automotive surfaces.
That experimentation became the foundation for what would eventually grow into IGL Coatings’ Ecocoat series.
